Juz installed e pc suite 6.01 for nokia 6230 and I'm impressed! Now transfering from e com to e phone some nice picts for its wallpaper as well as some mp3 files via infrared.. And finally I can take watever picts I want and upload into my com directly without developing hard copies of 4R pictures and scanning em.. Cool.. Juz love my new phone.. But alas.. there was this singtel plan tat is offered to only NUH staff with free incoming and 360 free sms which cost~ believe this ~$14 a mth! Kaoz.. Rite now my current M1 prime plan has only 300 free sms, 200 min talk time and cost $28 a mth.. Wat e heck? With no caller id more.. Hiaks.. Y didn't I wait for a few more days?

This seem to be e season for buying new phones~ Muzhi got one 3 days ago, Stan got one yesterday and I got.. 2? One of which I owned for half a day ah..
Anywae e hp I bought was Nokia 6230 and after trade in of my N 6610 and signing another 2 yr contract, I still haff to pay $170.. Pretty ex leh.. But atleast it got:
Video recorder and player
Digital VGA camera
Active TFT color display
Bluetooth wireless technology
Streaming video and audio
Music player for MP3 and AAC files

A hp is more than juz a device for calling pple or sending sms.. Its my watch and my all-so-important organiser.. E most impt programme would be e calendar where I could save watever appts, tests, things to do, buy or bring, birthdays, etc etc.. Esp impt for a forgetful person like me where I could even set e alarm to remind me to do e paticular thing at e particular time.. Shit.. Think I'm getting old and senile..
Anywae I would haff continued to use my beloved 6610 but it decided to giff up on me instead.. The LCD screen seemed to go haywire and displayed a dark blue foregound overwriting e wallpaper and screensaver such tat I can't read or see anything else.. At first these attacks would come and go rapidly, juz like ur acute heart attacks.. U knock e phone a few times and will get to see Yuna n Tidus ( my wallpaper) again.. But lately it has progressed to a more chronic tumour, lasting 12 hours on some episodes.. And being not able to read ur sms is very frustrating.. And so 6610 has to be repaired or replaced.
And so last wed after school I shared a cab with Fengyi and Kenneth to jurong pt nokia care centre and guess wat? E nokia care shop is permanently closed down since a wk ago and e other 6 nokia care centres r undergoing renovations all ard this time.. They having an overhaul ah.. Anywae e only available care centres tat haven't underwent renovations r e ones in suntec city and parkway parade.. Look like my luck is really down.. Spent over $6 on cab and so much time is wasted.. But atleast I caught Linlin or rather she caught me instead, who is having dinner with a guy.. *wink..
And en e next day I went to some of e hp shops at e town centre.. Some of em would offer repair services and sometimes amting to only $10-$20.. Considering my 1 yr warranty is long overdue n each servicing alone at e nokia care centre will be a $20+ bill not counting e replacement components, I decided I should have tried my luck at these smaller hp shops. But e first one I went to, say tat e LCD need to be replaced and will cost $69.. I walked out immediately.. E subsequent shops didn't offer repair services or r closed..
And so I decided I might as well get a new hp.
Come yesterday evening I went to West Mall which was having an m1 roadshow.. And I found 2 hps which caught my eyes- panasonic x200 which was super slim and cost only $98 with a free hand massager which supposedly worth $69.. Can giff my mum no prob.. And so with a trade in of my 6610 with a value of $100, I dun have to pay anything.. Tatz for e budget buy.. And e other phone, N6230 is selling at $268 so after trade in I still haff to pay $168.. But it has similar features like N6610 which I love so so much..
1) The keypad buttons r so damn big and easy to press!
2) U press e left arrow and u go straight to sms!
3) U press e right arrow and u go straight to calendar! E all-so-impt organiser!
4) No flipping, rotating actions- juz a simple design for a simple man..
5) Right size and shape to be placed in e hp pouch for me to twirl and swing! Lol..

Anywae after deciding on my budget buy, I signed e contract and trade in 6610 n brought x200 home. But after charging and testing out e software for e first time (coz at e roadshow they didn't let us test e software), I realised it sux big time.. Its very very troublesome to get to e sms, e calendar- speaking of which makes my blood boil.. E freaking calendar is juz a calendar for u to c e dates! U can't put any appts, tests, things to do, buy or bring, birthdays, etc etc in it.. I was freaking disappointed and mad ah..
So come this morning I cycled back to West Mall and requested for a change in e models.. E lady told me its against e rules and regulations but seeing I'm so freaking handsome she decided to ask e manager for me.. And bless Tommy e manager!
And so here I am with my new N6230.. Which is having its first 10hr-long charging right now..
~Nice phone.

'Sort of' coz he'll sleeping in my youngest bro's room but will still be mugging in mine coz his desk is still there. Nonetheless, this calls for a celebration! Both my patients today r pretty much chinese-speaking and introducing my 4th and 5th patients~ Mr and Mrs Chow! And this being e case, I have had some difficulties in communicating with em.. No.. Dun doubt me wrong.. I'm NOT a jiat gan dan person (i.e. pple who eat potato and hence, an asian who lived in western countries and nue nothing of their mother tongue). Infact, I prefer to speak in chinese, my mother tongue language.. Mothers r absolutely impt! And ur mum giff u a tongue to speak ur native language.. Somehow I feel its more.. personal, more warming, more belonging.. Somehow..
Anyway, e thing is, its difficult to explain e stuff to the patients.. First of all, we can't use jargon- Whatever chim chim philosophies we haff must be converted into simple layman terms so tat e patients can understand. Tat wasn't too difficult to acquire thou.. Just get hold of a few pamphlets or observe how a doctor would speak to e patient and u'll get to master e layman terms. E bigger problem is tat all e information from e txbks and e profs' lectures r ofcoz in english n its like.. Wat r these chim terms in chinese? Realised I definitely need to buck up on e translation part.. And proved again my mother tongue isn't exactly as good as I had wished it to be..
To begin with, I was asking e questions from e medical history form in chinese for e first time 2day and boy! Was I glad there's was e english translation with along with each question! Things like huang dan zheng is jaundice, gan yan is hepatitis ( which Mr Chow got B xin gan yan), jia zhuang quan ji bing is thyroid problems, etc.. En when I was asking Mrs Chow if she had any surgeries done b4, she mentioned she had mang chang yan ( appendicitis ) and zi guan qie chu.. On first hearing I had no idea wat it was, but I did a word by word translation which would mean zi= child, guan= passage, qie= cut, chu= remove.. Tubal ligation? I only smile to myself en & was basically too embarrassed to confirm with Mrs Chow ah..
Back in e sanctuary of my home, my mum confirmed tat it had to do with e female reproductive system butta since it was 'chu', it meant e removal of e ovaries or sections of e fallopian tubes mostly due to infections instead of voluntarily requests. She mentioned e correct chinese translation for tubal ligation which is.. something bang3 something.. lol
In any case, thanx to e company of Wei Song and Mu zhi in cluster Clean for e past 2 yrs, I manage to find out wat r yang ju and gao wan.. For those who didn't- here's e hint: 'yang ju' lie btw e 2 'gao wan'..
Cheers!

2day's e fourth day of school and I felt so drained out of life liaoz.. Thursday is a day consisting mainly of rpd lab work and sitting in e dirty, noisy, dusty, labotatory workplace for e whole day is just simply testing your patience.. And when u r working on a piece of work tat is not going anywhere, e frustation can make u kill someone or wish someone will kill you. 2day's labwork is on a relatively simple special tray making and yet there I was:
1) Burring and smoothening e special tray.
2) Show Mrs Au.
3) She complain e tray not smooth enuff.
4) Smoothen some more.
5) Show Mrs Au.
6) Complain e tray is too thin.
7) Reline with more acrylic resin.
8) Bur.
9) By e time e tray is smooth again, light is penetrating thru again.
10) Reline.
11) Bur.
12) Reline.
13) Bur.
14) Reline.
15) Bur.
16) Reline.
17) Bur.
18) Reline.
19) Bur.
20) Satisfied its of adequate thickness and is smooth enuff.
21) Show Mrs Au.
22) Complain e edges not smooth enuff.
23) Smoothen.
24) Show Mrs Au.
25) Complain e edges not thick enuff.
26) Thicken. + Smoothen.
27) Show Mrs Au.
28) Complain e edges of tray doesn't conform to e outline form.
29) Extend. + Smoothen.
30) Show Mrs Au.
31) Say its better. Ask me to smoothen somemore.
32) Smoothen somemore.
33) Show Mrs Au.
34) She signed e freaking maxillary special tray!

Finally! But I was still behind schedule with a totally untouched mandibluar special tray.

U nue, in this kind of situation where u did your most decent job at e beginning and expecting to get a signature at step 2 and u didn't, and every modification u made juz create new problems and making ur tray look uglier than before and u started wishing u should haff remake a new one from scratch. This' a lesson I've learnt and will not repeat e same mistakes for e mandibular special tray. Also, I can only blame myself and not bitcy-Mrs Au, coz all my cluster pple haff all done it. Juz tat I felt my life force totally sucked out with each passing second and I've never felt so drained b4..
And this is still in e lab and not e clinic.. Juz a little peek at wat exactly is in stored for us.. I just can't freaking wait..
Went to cycle juz now after dinner and it was highly therapeutic.. Was cycling at such high speeds and trying out a few stunts.. Simply exhilarating and refreshing ah..

2day's e very first day of school and I was e dental assistant for my lab partner who is seeing her first patient for e very first time. Her patient is very interesting ah.. She's so.. small! Somemore her name is Xiao ----, (which I can't divulge further coz patients' privacy is our duty).. Haiz.. Made me feel sad y parents never name me Da something.. lol
Anywae her dental condition is damn interesting.. She gotta >90% gingival index score which meant tat >90% of e probing sites r bleeding.. This is an indication of severe chronic adult gingivitis and in case u r thinking.. No.. She's not a granny or retiree or middleage lady but a young adult like us.. 21 yrs old, 2 yr younger than me! But e most interesting thing is, she had totally perfect teeth! No carious lesions, no fillings, no missing teeth- all her 32 teeth r totally intact, and even no wear and attrition facets! Amazing! How did she do tat? Her oral hygiene is pretty poor, with moderate gingival inflammation which meant tat there r colonies of bacteria all over e place.. Oh.. 4got to mention her teeth gotta plenty of calculus too.. Anywae, one with poor oral hygiene usually have interlinked gum and teeth diseases, thou apparently hers was one super clear cut case. Maybe when she was young, she placed her primary teeth under her pillow and e tooth fairy grant em immunity.
But in any case, e bacteria causing caries and gingivitis r diff, so perhaps a more scientifical explanation maybe tat P. gingivitis is overwhelming over S. Mutans.. Guess will learn more from e upcoming oral pathology lessons!

Went to Dr Vijayan's house this evening and he gave us a brief run-thru of Singapore's dental, medical and CID team in phuket tsunami's efforts as well as e missionary trips to India/Indonesia/thailand and other rural villages.. All in all, I felt it was very interesting and he and Dr kann were giving us all e little exciting bits and pieces of their adventures.
I dun believe I'm a very charitable person, since I usually dun giff a damn abt NKF or ren ci or other such shows which aim to pull at ur heart strings and hence ur purse strings. Hey e artists can pull off all sorts of dangerous stunts to try n touch ur hearts but they r also happily gaining recognition and happily smiling their increased time on e big tv. They definitely rn't gg to touch my heart thou.. Esp when NKF has e cheek to admit it has over $3 million reserves n they dun nue wat to do with it..
But I believe I'm a adventurous person, n I wouldn't mind visiting these rural areas, drinking brown, dirty well water or bathing in tadpoles-infested water. This sounds like fun and definitely an experience worth remembering. And from Dr Vijayan and Dr kann's stories, there is always e element of fun in their missionary trips. And it is becoz of this experience tat we r actually getting more outta e missionary trips en e local pple would probably see a dentist for e first and last time in their life. And tat being e case, I dun see myself not volunteering for such missionary trips and in e mean time, doing some good too.. Juz like e NKF artists..
And yes, I'm no mother teresa or Gandhi.

Surgeries r indeed eye openers and I saw actually saw my very first 2 within 3 days! Watched e intraoral mucoseal operation at GPA attachment last wed and e more gorified implantation operation at dental centre today. The female lead is none other than Jasmine herself, operator is Dr Chiew Yew Tou, with 2 assisting nurses, co-operator cum supervisor cum jokes-maker is Dr Henry Ho and watcher cum explainer is who-else-but-Libeng?
Wa.. I can't help but fringe and cringe at e sight of e scapel incising right down e centre of edentulous mucosa and e immediate adjacent gingiva (3/4 all round) of both abutment teeth.. The whole mucosa flap is en flipped open to reveal e underlying alveolar bone.. Think Jasmine had a easiler time than me since she can't see e gore and is happily wriggling her toes under LA.. I guess I'll juz haff to see more surgical cases to get more used to it ah.. Libeng was telling me tat e first time when u incise e gingiva for wisdom tooth extraction, u r bound to get something like mash potato instead of a clean, smooth cut.. I juz hope e scapel won't fly outta my hand lol.. Anywae, once e mucosa flap is flipped opened n e scapel is placed safely away, e rest of e operation is pretty ok.. Dr Chiew did abit of burring with a round bur, en with some more burs, did some more measurements, took x-rays, place e post core, screw in e abutment and finally stitch up e incised gingival flaps. Took a total of 1/1/2 hr ah, which is pretty long coz she was taking her time to explain to me, libeng and Jasmine.. A pretty nice doctor, I must add.
Well.. Implantation is pretty interesting and its good to have a picture of how it is done.. Even yr 4 Libeng who is taking his exams within 1/1/2 mths time is seeing an implantation surgery for e very first time.. How lucky am I?
